30 Apr Discovering the Power of Three within your Social Media Strategy
The Rule of Three: A Real-Life Anecdote
Have you ever heard that “things happen in threes”? Recently, I experienced this firsthand in a rather challenging way! First, our boiler decided to give up on us, requiring an immediate replacement. No sooner had we dealt with that, our ensuite toilet began to leak. And just when we thought we’d weathered the storm, our dishwasher started leaking as well. It seems like a bizarre coincidence, but maybe there’s something to the idea that things go wrong in groups of three.
Despite these setbacks, the concept of ‘three’ isn’t all doom and gloom. In fact, I’ve found the number three to be quite beneficial, especially when it comes to strategising social media for businesses.
Let me share with you the effectiveness of what I call the “3 Tier Method.” How it can simplify your Social Media Strategy by streamlining their social media/marketing efforts across platforms, content types, and product offerings. This strategy not only simplifies your social media but also helps increase your engagement, reach and potential clients.
Whether it’s dealing with home repairs or planning a social media strategy, the rule of threes can surprisingly offer clarity and structure to both our personal and professional lives. Embrace the power of three, and you might just find yourself mastering the art of balance and efficiency.
Here’s how you can structure this approach:
The “3 Tier Method” is a powerful framework designed to increase consistency, visibility, and engagement on social media.
• Social Media Platforms – Working with just 3 platforms helps take away the stress and overwhelm.
Tier 1 – This should be your primary platform, where you feel most comfortable and engaged.
Tier 2 – Your secondary platform, is the next platform you feel comfortable on where you also maintain a presence but perhaps with less intensity than Tier 1.
Tier 3 – This is a more casual platform where you engage occasionally, keeping your presence alive without the pressure of constant activity.
• Social Media Content – Many people struggle with being consistent as they don’t know what content to post but when you look at tiers
it makes it easier, for example:
Tier 1 – Your content/messaging will be focused on the main product/service you provide or if you are launching something that month or your biggest earning product.
Tier 2 – Your content/messaging/content is based on all your other products and services you provide and can potentially generate revenue.
Tier 3 – Your content/messaging is more fluff stuff, lighter stuff so events you are attending, and things going on in your world. But please remember we need to have a balance of business and personal posts.
• Products and Services – So many businesses struggle with their social media strategy because they don’t know what they are doing in their business from a product or service point of view. This is where sticking to 3 main products and services work, firstly it’s easy to manage and advertise across socials but it also doesn’t overcomplicate things with your potential customer client.
Tier 1 – This product/service is a high-ticket offerings that drive the majority of your revenue.
Tier 2 – Your product/service is a mid-range offer that supplements your main offerings.
Tier 3 – Your product/service is low ticket something that is more accessible, to attract a broader audience.
Businesses can create a simple strategy by applying the “3 Tier Method” across platforms, content, and offerings.
